My name is Taniya Thomas and I am a senior at Guilderland High School. This website consists of my year long inquiry which is just one of many research projects done in a course called Exploring with Mindful Creativity and Curiosity. This independent research course, called EMC, for short is all about students delving into their mind and investigating a topic which intrigues them.

As a second year EMC student, I plan on researching the connection between personality and genetics. This topic stemmed from a casual conversation and has peaked my interest for the past few months. While it’s common knowledge that the environment we are raised in impacts the way we act and live, I wondered if there was something else to add into the picture. Genetics dictate traits as simple as the color of a person’s hair to those as complex as the likelihood of contracting an illness. If genetics are essentially the blueprints of a human being, wouldn’t it be possible that our DNA is partly responsible for our personality?
